Saskatoon police locate body of missing jet ski rider
Saskatoon police have confirmed the body of a jet ski rider who went missing on June 20 was found after nearly two weeks of searching. In an update sent Friday morning, police said a deceased man was located on July 2 in the Rural Municipality of Corman Park near the Clarkboro Ferry. They tentatively identified him as 32-year-old Adan Vargas Salvador, pending confirmation through dental records, and said his family was notified while the SPS Missing Persons Unit remained in contact. Police said crews responded to a call around 4:45 p.m. on June 20 after reports of a person operating a jet ski. After rescue efforts with specialized equipment, the operation shifted to recovery the next day. Earlier on June 23, police identified the missing person as a visitor from Mexico living in Saskatoon. The incident followed warnings about unusually high water levels in the South Saskatchewan River, with flows rising from about 160 cubic meters per second to around 296 at the time; the Water Security Agency projected flows could reach about 770 by July 6, prompting closures of nearby boat launches and recreational areas.
