Sausalito weighs legal response to marina takeover

Sausalito is considering litigation after complaints about ownership and management changes at Pelican Harbour. Mayor Steven Woodside said Tuesday that he instructed the city attorney to explore potential legal actions related to the Pelican Harbour property transaction, as well as options to protect tenants and address rental increases reportedly posted. The prospect of a lawsuit follows the July 1 takeover of Bridgeway Marina, a neighboring 90-slip facility, by Cameron Razavi, even though the city denied a tidelands lease in May. Razavi previously sought to buy the property for $13.4 million and described Woodside as “doing his job.” Tenants and activists criticized Razavi’s management, citing rent increases of up to 150% effective October and the layoff of prior harbormaster and maintenance staff. Among the questions raised, resident Rob McCollough filed California Public Records Act requests and urged the city to clarify who owns Pelican Harbour now.
