Sherwood, Maumelle mayors win reelection; Jacksonville incumbent unseated | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Mary Jo Heye-Townsell won reelection as mayor of Sherwood on Tuesday night ahead of three competitors, based on results posted by the Pulaski County Election Commission. She was first elected in 2022 and defeated Mike Willingham, CEO of RegenaDerm; Nara Smith, a teacher and financial adviser; and Jay Bir, an analyst with Arkansas’ Department of Shared Administrative Services. With an estimated 100% of votes counted, unofficial totals were: Heye-Townsell 6,101; Willingham 3,224; Smith 1,478; Bir 1,381. Heye-Townsell said she plans to complete Jacksonville Cato, build Sherwood’s first bike trail, and work with the City Council on the animal shelter issue. She pointed to about $8.8 million in grants since 2023, 15 additional police officers, and increased fiscal reserves, alongside controversy over Flock Safety cameras. In Maumelle, Caleb Norris won reelection in a two-candidate race against Neil Allen.
