Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd attacked girlfriend with barbecue tongs

Jack Shepherd, the man convicted for the death of 24-year-old Charlotte Brown after a speedboat crash on the River Thames, pleaded guilty to attacking his girlfriend with barbecue tongs. The 38-year-old admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and damaging property via video link from HMP Swaleside in Kent on Tuesday. Prosecutors said the assaults took place in February and June of last year, leading to Shepherd’s recall to prison. Parole documents cited an “intimate relationship” beginning in August 2024. Shepherd originally received a 10-year sentence for manslaughter in 2018, served about six and a half years, and was released on licence in January 2024 before being recalled in September after further allegations. In court, prosecutors agreed to drop two charges.
