Cristiano Ronaldo announced Thursday that he is done playing for Portugal’s national team, ending a 23-year international career that spanned six World Cups, a European title, and the men’s all-time record for international goals. The 41-year-old forward said it’s time to pass on the No. 7 shirt and shared the news in a video message. His final outing for Portugal was a 1-0 win over Wales in September.
