Stansted passengers stuck in airport corridor as shuttle stops

Hundreds of passengers were stuck in a corridor at London Stansted Airport after a shuttle service for arriving travelers stopped operating. Elaine Rollings, who landed at the Essex airport from Tenerife on Friday afternoon, said she and about 1,000 other people waited for more than 90 minutes as more flights continued to feed arrivals into the same area. Stansted said the transit system was due for a planned closure between midday and 18:00 BST, though alternative coaches were arranged. The airport also noted that 10 flights diverted from Gatwick due to a grounded aircraft at its runway increased arrival numbers. Rollings said she finally left by 18:30.
