Steelers Predicted to Skip 1st-Round QB for Joey Porter Jr. Replacement

After the Steelers traded cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys last week, one projection suggests they may stay put at quarterback in the early 2027 draft. Yahoo Sports analyst Nate Tice projected Pittsburgh using the No. 13 overall pick on Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson IV, framing him as a possible “Joey Porter Jr. replacement.” Tice highlighted Robinson’s length, ball skills, and improved technique. In 2025 at Georgia he started 12 games, totaling 20 tackles, four interceptions, and 11 passes defended, earning FWAA Freshman Defensive Player of the Year and second-team All-SEC honors. Through five games this season he has nine tackles, one interception, and five pass breakups.
