STX kayak company to hold training for canoeing guide certification

Craig Harms, owner of Sea Thru Kayaks VI at Salt River Marina in St. Croix, is working to bring an American Canoe Association (ACA) Guide Certification to the island. Sea Thru Kayaks VI has partnered with Sea Kayak Connecticut to host the official course locally, aiming to create a nationally recognized paddle-sports credential for residents and operators. Harms describes the program as a rigorous, five-day training and says it could meaningfully change the local paddling industry over the coming years. The effort positions St. Croix as a destination for formal canoeing and kayaking instruction rather than informal training alone.
