Three people rescued in joint operation after fishing boat got into difficulty at sea

A 37-foot fishing boat lost power early and stranded near Lavernock Point, triggering a joint rescue involving RNLI crews from Penarth and Barry Dock. Volunteers in Penarth were alerted at 3:58am and launched both lifeboats; Barry Dock sent its all-weather lifeboat (ALB) for additional support. The Penarth D-class lifeboat reached the vessel first and evacuated three people as the tide rose, with concerns about potential hull damage and water ingress. Two were taken ashore on the Atlantic 85, while the skipper transferred to the Barry Dock ALB. After the boat was refloated, crews checked it for watertightness, then towed it into safety toward Penarth.
