Tottenham give update as search for new sporting director is paused
Tottenham have paused their search for a new sporting director, with the process set to resume at the end of the summer transfer window. The club appointed Fabio Paratici last October to work alongside Johan Lange in a dual sporting director structure, but Paratici left the Premier League club in February for personal reasons. According to minutes from a Fan Advisory Board meeting, chief executive Vinai Venkatesham confirmed that bringing in another sporting director this summer is no longer a key priority. Lange, head coach Roberto De Zerbi and Rafi Moersen, newly appointed director of football operations, are leading recruitment in the current window. Venkatesham and non-executive chairman Peter Charrington also described the 2025–26 campaign as “unacceptable” after Tottenham narrowly avoided relegation following a final-day win over Everton. The minutes said Lange’s role has been defended, and that Moersen started June 16 after a period of garden leave from City Football Group.
