Two men dead after light plane crashes in paddock

Two men have died after a light aircraft crash in a paddock near Scone Aerodrome in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales. NSW Police said emergency services were called to the scene just before 2pm AEDT on Friday and the force is working to identify the victims. A crime scene has been established and specialist officers will examine it. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) was notified of the crash but does not investigate recreational aircraft accidents; an ATSB spokesperson confirmed it was a kit-built aircraft on the recreational register. Recreational Aviation Australia has also been informed. The ATSB said a report will be prepared for the coroner.
