USS Marinette docks in Albany as part of America250
The USS Marinette docked in Albany on Tuesday as part of America250 and the International Navy Review in New York Harbor, marking the first visit by a major active-duty U.S. Navy ship to the Port of Albany since the frigate USS Capodanno in 1993. The Freedom-class littoral combat ship, built by Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, Wisconsin, was commissioned in 2023. At 378 feet long, it can reach speeds up to 40 knots and is designed for shallow coastal and tidal-zone operations, including surface warfare and mine countermeasures. The ship carries two MH-60R Seahawk helicopters for anti-submarine and surface warfare missions and can host a crew of up to about 75. The International Navy Review 250 runs July 3–8 and includes more than 130 invited navies and coast guards, plus over 30 tall ships worldwide.
