Vietnam Boat Disaster: 15 Indian Tourists Who Died Were Part of a Mobile Company-Sponsored Trip

The Vietnam boat disaster left 15 Indian tourists dead, and reports say the victims were largely employees and channel partners of Lava Mobiles during a mobile company-sponsored corporate offsite. Lava Mobiles confirmed the tragedy in a statement posted on X, saying the incident involved channel partners and team members and that its priority was to support affected families. The company said teams in India and Vietnam were in regular contact with families and were working with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam and local authorities. Authorities said at least 15 people died after a speedboat capsized, with 36 aboard, including 13 men and two women among the fatalities. Rescuers saved 21 people—17 passengers and four crew—who were taken to a local hospital, while two tourists remained in critical condition. The boat overturned about 400 meters from the shore after departing Hon May Rut Ngoai Island for An Thoi Port.
