What I'm Hearing: John Harbaugh's bold Simmons pursuit, Jonathan Taylor's uncertain future, Caleb Williams' costly stand
Jeffery Simmons is set to debut Monday night for the Chicago Bears after a blockbuster trade that sent the Tennessee Titans defensive tackle to Chicago in exchange for two first-round picks. The Athletic reports Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk was directly contacted by New York Giants coach John Harbaugh in a bid to land Simmons before the Nov. 10 deadline. Giants GM Joe Schoen had previously been told “no” by Titans GM Mike Borgonzi, who is empowered to run football decisions. Harbaugh’s call to Strunk reportedly broke an internal decision-making code. Earlier this month, Chicago’s GM Ryan Poles dealt for Simmons with a 2027 first, 2028 first and 2027 fourth, plus a 2028 fifth going to Tennessee. Simmons had signed a $105.9 million, three-year extension in June.
