Will a Wave of "Trump Regret" Lift Democratic Boats This Fall?

A Navigator Research survey finds that “Trump regret” is widespread among 2024 voters who backed the president but now say they regret their choice. The analysis, discussed with Navigator’s polling director Tina Tang, reports that 18% of 2024 Trump voters—nearly 1 in 10 MAGA Republicans—say they regret voting for Trump, and that younger voters, independents, and voters of color who swung to him are less likely to remain in the coalition. The study also shows regret is driven largely by concerns about inflation and the president’s handling of war, including dissatisfaction over broken promises to lower prices and avoid new conflicts. However, the article cautions Democrats not to assume these voters will shift automatically to the party.
