Woman accused of using fake passport to pose as victim's wife and steal account funds
A 50-year-old woman, Kimberly Irene Schwartfigure, has been charged in Bannock County with burglary and grand theft after prosecutors allege she used a fake passport to impersonate the victim’s wife and withdraw money from his home equity loan account. Court documents say the theft occurred on March 18 at a Pocatello credit union, with two cash withdrawals totaling $14,000. The victim reported the discrepancy on April 1. Investigators allegedly concluded bank staff had accepted the impersonator as the wife, using a passport with the correct name and date of birth but Schwartfigure’s photo. Authorities later reviewed surveillance footage and said she appeared tied to similar incidents. She was arrested and, by April 9, held at Twin Falls County Jail, facing related extraditable issues.
