Woman faces domestic violence charges after alleged attack with weapons in Tiverton

TIVERTON, R.I.—Tiverton police say a Portsmouth woman is facing domestic violence charges after an alleged weapons attack on Saturday at a residence on Hopper Street. Officers found two people with significant injuries and transported them to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. The individuals involved were identified as 39-year-old Annie Laurie Commons and a 41-year-old Tiverton man, and after preliminary inquiry, Commons was charged with domestic assault and battery, domestic unlawful breaking and entering a dwelling, and domestic assault with a dangerous weapon in a dwelling house. Authorities recovered weapons, including a machete and a knife, believed used in the altercation. Additional charges may be considered as the investigation continues.
