A woman rescued after a charter fishing boat capsized off Richmond in June has died in hospital, according to Richmond RCMP. Police said the wreck was located more than 150 metres below the surface and released the latest update on Wednesday, July 8. Ten people were on board when the boat sank: eight charter guests, the vessel operator, and a person assisting the operator. Four were rescued, while the other six were initially reported missing and later presumed drowned hours later. The deceased is a 28-year-old Chinese citizen living in Seattle, who was among the rescued group, RCMP said. The other three survivors are a 33-year-old woman from Toronto, a 33-year-old man from Redmond, Washington, and a 26-year-old man from Richmond. The six remaining missing individuals, presumed drowned, include people from Toronto, Redmond, Seattle, West Vancouver and Richmond, with the 22-year-old Richmond man identified as the operator. RCMP added that next of kin have been identified and that families requested privacy, while a serious crime unit continues investigating the sinking near Roberts Bank.
