Woman rescued from capsized boat off Richmond dies in hospital: RCMP - The Free Press
A woman rescued after a charter fishing boat capsized off Richmond in June has died in hospital, according to Richmond RCMP. Police say the vessel was found more than 150 metres below the surface, and that RCMP released updated information on Wednesday, July 8. Ten people were on board when the boat sank: eight charter guests, the vessel operator, and an assistant. Four were rescued, while the remaining six were initially reported missing and later presumed drowned hours afterward. The woman, 28 and a Chinese citizen living in Seattle, died from injuries. The three other survivors include a 33-year-old woman from Toronto, a 33-year-old man from Redmond, Washington, and a 26-year-old man from Richmond. The six presumed drowned range from ages 22 to 39, including the 22-year-old Richmond operator. RCMP identified next of kin but said families requested names not be released, and investigators continue a serious-crime unit probe near Roberts Bank.
