Woman rescued from capsized boat off Richmond dies in hospital: RCMP - Trail Times

A woman rescued after a capsized charter fishing boat off Richmond in June has died in hospital, Richmond RCMP said in an update released Wednesday, July 8. Investigators reported that the vessel was located more than 150 metres below the surface. There were 10 people aboard at the time of the sinking: eight charter guests, the vessel operator, and a person assisting the operator. Four were rescued; the remaining six were initially reported missing but were later presumed drowned hours afterward. The woman who was among those rescued, a 28-year-old Chinese citizen living in Seattle, succumbed to her injuries. The other rescued individuals were a 33-year-old woman from Toronto, a 33-year-old man from Redmond, Washington, and a 26-year-old man from Richmond. The six missing and presumed drowned include people from Toronto, Redmond, Seattle, West Vancouver, and Richmond, with the 22-year-old Richmond man serving as the vessel operator. RCMP said next of kin have been identified and that the serious crime unit continues investigating near Roberts Bank.
