Wreckage of sunken boat near Alcatraz located as search continues for 2 missing passengers reports that investigators have found the wreck of the 49-foot Volare on the floor of San Francisco Bay. San Francisco Police Department officials said the department’s marine unit located the submerged cabin cruiser Tuesday using boat-mounted sonar. Investigators are now using a remotely operated vehicle to examine the wreckage while authorities assess whether recovery is safe and feasible. The Volare capsized around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday about 600 feet west of Alcatraz Island while carrying 20 people. Crews rescued 16 people; 78-year-old Clifford Boisa died after being brought ashore, and a dog aboard was found dead. A search for missing passengers continued after the Coast Guard suspended part of it Wednesday; on Thursday, SFPD recovered the body of 58-year-old Tondra Miller of Sacramento County. Two passengers—Jackie Boisa and Carol Boisa—remain missing and presumed dead.
