Year-old angler rescued after getting stranded on boat after nightfall

A 83-year-old angler was rescued after getting stranded on his boat following nightfall on Tawas Lake in Iosco County, Michigan. Michigan State Police said troopers from the West Branch post were alerted at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday by a caller who reported that the man left to fish around 6 p.m. and had not returned. MSP said he did not have hearing aids, a cell phone, a flashlight, or other emergency equipment, and that his boat had no lights. Because the lake is shallow, a conservation officer used a mud boat to search. Around 11:40 p.m., the crew found him on the north side, uninjured, after hearing his voice and seeing his lighter flame.
