Absolute nightmare" issue of e-bikes and e-scooters raised by councillors
"Absolute nightmare" issue of e-bikes and e-scooters raised by councillors. Rhondda Cynon Taf council reviewed the matter and found that the threshold hasn't been met for extra controls. The cabinet heard a report on Monday, June 15, in response to a notice of motion from October 2025 addressing concerns around e-bicycles and e-scooters. The review concluded the current legal framework exists, enforcement powers are in place, and there is no justification for PSPOs or bylaws at this time. Deputy leader Maureen Webber criticized underreporting and called for awareness campaigns and better reporting pathways. Fellow cabinet member Scott Emanuel noted ambiguity in the legal stance, while Councillor Andrew Morgan highlighted a lack of understanding by buyers. Gary Black acknowledged public safety concerns and suggested a knowledge base improvement, with a potential survey among councillors to gauge knowledge.
