Adrien Fourmaux's 2027 WRC Seat Comes Down to a €7,500 Kit and a Two-Car Rule
Adrien Fourmaux’s path to a 2027 WRC seat hinges on FIA homologation rules, not on his pace. Fourmaux finished 2026 World Rally Championship fifth with 183 points and four podiums, all achieved on gravel, including results in Kenya, Estonia, Paraguay and Chile. He did so with the Hyundai i20 N Rally1, which made its last start in Sardinia on October 4, and Hyundai has not yet confirmed what replaces it. For 2027, Rally1 runs under WRC27 regulations with a €345,000 cost cap and a new bridge rule for Rally2-derived “Rally2-WRC-Kit.” The kit is capped at €7,500, but only a WRC-registered constructor can homologate it, must enter every round with at least two cars in the kit’s first season, and a privateer team can’t do it alone—requiring the manufacturer to back the paperwork.
