Airbag fault for country's most popular car

Ford Australia has recalled nearly 14,000 Ranger utes built between November 2025 and July 2026 due to a potentially faulty airbag. The automaker’s voluntary recall affects vehicles where, in a crash, side curtain airbags may interact with the B-pillar trim during inflation and fail to deploy as intended. Ford says this interaction could cause the B-pillar ramp to detach, raising the risk of injury to occupants. The company says it has not identified any related incidents in Australia and discovered the issue during routine testing. Customers can keep using their vehicles, but will be contacted and told to book a free repair at dealers starting mid-September.
