Ally McCoist blown away by Celtic transfer 'target'
Ally McCoist said he was “blown away” by Haissem Hassan after the 24-year-old’s World Cup performances for Egypt, soon after Hassan was linked with a potential move to Celtic. McCoist’s comments came hours after Hassan’s electric display against Argentina, where Egypt’s match ended 3-2 amid controversy. Hassan, who plays for Oviedo in Spain, was described as a driver of Egypt’s counter-attack moments, including a goal involving Mostafa Zico that was ruled out after VAR following a foul on Lisandro Martinez at a time when the score was 1-0. Egypt later made it 2-0 with help from Hassan, but Argentina scored three times in the final 11 minutes to complete a late comeback. The report claims Celtic and Saudi Arabia are among parties with interest and that Hassan could be valued around £4 million. McCoist, speaking on ITV, praised Hassan’s right touchline work and his role in Egypt’s second goal.
