Arrests made in Doncaster in crackdown on organised vehicle crime

South Yorkshire Police arrested 14 people as part of an operation targeting organised vehicle crime. The arrests followed searches at multiple caravan sites in Doncaster, and further seizures took place during raids in Mexborough and Bentley on Wednesday, where officers recovered vehicles and vehicle parts. Those detained, including a 17-year-old boy, were held on suspicion of offences such as theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and dangerous driving. Detective Inspector Jim Smith said stolen vehicles are often dismantled in “chop shops,” used for additional offences or traded through wider criminal networks, bringing more crime, violence and antisocial behaviour to communities.
