Aston Martin Kept Wrenching on Stroll's Car Past the Deadline. The FIA's Answer Was the Pit Lane.
Aston Martin was penalized for work done on Lance Stroll’s car after the 2026 United States Grand Prix parc fermé deadlines in Austin. Stewards issued Document 48 on Sunday, Oct. 25, ordering Car 18 to start from the pit lane. The ruling followed breaches including changing Stroll’s suspension setup without sign-off, continuing work after the permitted deadline, and replacing five power unit elements without approval from the Technical Delegate. The FIA cited specific regulations, noting that while extra power unit elements typically cost grid places, Article B3.5.3a requires a pit lane start when parts are replaced under parc fermé without approval. Stroll had been provisionally 16th. The decision shifts everyone behind him up one position, while teammate Fernando Alonso is unaffected.
