Audi Quietly Built a 987-HP Supercar That Embarrasses Its Own Lamborghini Cousin
Audi’s new 987-hp hybrid supercar, the Nuvolari, spotlights a dramatic shift toward higher performance and exclusivity as the marque keeps its Lamborghini ties but reshapes the hierarchy. Built by a small team in secrecy over 440 days after the project began last March, the Nuvolari is set for production to start in early next year. Audi plans to make just 499 units, priced at $686,613 at current exchange rates, with only select dealers handling sales. The car draws on powertrain DNA associated with the Lamborghini Temerario, while Audi positions the Nuvolari as more powerful and rarer. It targets around 217 mph top speed and includes a track mode with wet, dry, race, and traction-off settings. Bridgestone Potenza Race tires (255/35R-20 front, 325/30R-21 rear) support the setup, while Audi’s Ceramic Pro brakes are intended for Formula 1-like deceleration. The Nuvolari also incorporates obsessive concept-style details, including metal-integrated rear wing rings.
