Bicyclist struck, killed by vehicle in Hayward

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car in Hayward early Monday morning, according to police. Officers were called at about 12:10 a.m. to the intersection of Harder and Soto roads after reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. Investigators said a car driven by a 52-year-old man from Hayward collided with a bicycle ridden by a 62-year-old man. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated. The bicyclist was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was withheld pending notification by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office, and police said drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors.
