xCruzo Brief

BMW has revealed the fifth-generation X5 SUV and electric iX5, expanding the range for Australia with petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and EV choices. The iX5 is claimed to deliver up to 845 km of range, and BMW said there are no plans for Australia to receive the hydrogen-powered iX5, which will be offered overseas. Deliveries are scheduled so that the petrol X5 40 xDrive and X5 40d xDrive arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026, while the X5 PHEV and iX5 EV are due by mid-2027. The new G65 X5 grows in wheelbase to 3035 mm, adding 59 mm overall length to 4992 mm, while becoming 4 mm narrower and 14 mm taller. BMW states all new X5s will include an M Sport package, including M alloy wheels and adaptive suspension. The cabin features a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and BMW’s Panoramic iDrive display across the base of the windscreen.
