Boss Hoss Still Builds a Motorcycle Around a 600-HP Big-Block Chevy, and the Cruiser Bike Is the Purest Version of the Idea
Boss Hoss Still Builds a Motorcycle Around a 600-HP Big-Block Chevy, and the Cruiser Bike Is the Purest Version of the Idea details the company’s continuing run producing V8-powered motorcycles. Boss Hoss says it has spent 35 years promoting a concept that mounts a full-size Chevrolet V8 into a motorcycle frame, and its current Cruiser Bike is presented as the most stripped-down expression of that idea. The starting price is $70,995, with buyers choosing among four Chevrolet-derived V8 options. Output ranges from 430 horsepower and 450 lb-ft for a 383 small-block stroker at 3,800 rpm to 445 horsepower for a 376 LS3. The higher options include a 454 small-block at 563 horsepower and a 496 big-block rated at 600 horsepower and 568 lb-ft. Power goes through Boss Hoss’s own two-speed semi-automatic transmission built with Winters Performance, and reverse is included. Fuel is carbureted via a Holley 750 CFM or uses Holley Terminator EFI depending on engine choice. Claimed mileage is 18–25 mpg, with an 8.5-gallon tank. Each bike is hand-welded in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and the Cruiser Bike measures 110 inches long on an 80-inch wheelbase with a 26-inch seat height. The model uses a 300-series rear tire and is built with a chrome-moly steel frame.
