Buzz Sets World Record With 92-Country Trip, No Technical Breakdowns

A Volkswagen ID.Buzz Pro has set a Guinness World Record for the most countries visited in a continuous journey by a battery-powered EV, completing a 445-day circuit covering 92 countries on six continents. Long-distance driver Rainer Zietlow returned to Hanover, Germany, on Sept. 14, finishing 99,767 km (62,036 miles) behind the wheel of a stock long-wheelbase electric van. Guinness presented a certificate at IAA Transportation 2026. Volkswagen said the route included more than 300 charging stops and 16 sea crossings by container ship, with no single technical breakdown. TÜV Nord inspected the van and certified the high-voltage battery at 95.75% state of health after the trip. The ID.Buzz Pro uses an 86-kWh net battery and DC fast charging up to 200 kW.
