Cadillac recalls electric SUV months after toddler killed in tragic Hyundai power seat incident
Cadillac has recalled more than 14,000 Vistiq electric SUVs months after a toddler’s death linked to a Hyundai power-seat incident, citing a third-row seatback defect. General Motors said it is recalling certain 2026–2027 Cadillac Vistiq vehicles because a rear powered seatback that fails to reverse when it encounters an obstacle could trap a person, especially a small child. The recall report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 100% of the 14,540 affected vehicles have the issue. GM stated it is not aware of any injuries related to the recall. Owners are instructed to visit dealerships where the third-row folding feature will be disabled until remedy parts are available, after which repairs will be made free of charge. Notification letters are expected by Aug. 3, and dealers have been ordered to stop deliveries. The action follows a similar Hyundai recall for the 2026 Palisade after the March 7 death of 2-year-old Lucia Ayala.
