California Utility Expands Vehicle-To-Everything Programs To More EVs

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is expanding its Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) pilot options for electric vehicles that can serve as home backup and grid assets. The utility added eligible models from Kia, Volvo, Polestar, Nissan and more General Motors vehicles to its PowerHouse program. PG&E’s Applied Technology Services site in San Ramon, California (east of San Francisco) showcased a bidirectional setup using a Chevrolet Silverado EV truck connected via a GM battery pack. PG&E’s V2X pilot runs until June 2027 and already has 51 participating customers. The incentives total up to $4,500—$2,500 upfront plus $1,500 for the first 250 enrollees—if customers meet eligibility, including charger compatibility.
