Chevrolet's New NASCAR Body Hasn't Delivered
Chevrolet’s redesigned NASCAR Cup body is failing to deliver the turnaround it promised. Entering the 2026 season, Chevy teams were optimistic about the Bowtie’s new style, but Toyota has dominated: in 23 races, Chevrolet has just six wins while Toyota has 14. Chase Elliott is the only Hendrick Motorsports winner, taking victories at Martinsville and Texas. Trackhouse Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen has two wins, and the remaining two belong to Spire Motorsports—Carson Hocevar at Talladega and Daniel Suarez at Charlotte. Chevrolet’s last win came in late June at Sonoma. With three regular-season races left, Elliott sits seventh, while Hocevar and Kyle Larson are in the top 10. Toyota’s current car debuted in February 2024, giving it time to refine ahead of 2027.
