Classic American Icons Roll Into One Of D.C.'s Most Historic Landmarks Ahead Of America's 250th
Ford Motor Company is bringing multiple iconic vehicles to Union Station in Washington, D.C., ahead of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. From July 1 through July 14, Ford will host “Driving America Forward: A Ford Experience,” a free public exhibit organized by Ford From the Road. The display traces more than a century of Ford’s impact, framed as the “machines” that carried people to work, church, and the moon. It highlights the moving assembly line and the company’s introduction of a $5 workday. The exhibit also points to Ford’s World War II production, including a mile-long assembly line at Willow Run producing a B-24 Liberator bomber every 63 minutes. Ford’s Mustang debut at the 1964 New York World’s Fair and the F-Series’ 49 straight years as best-selling truck are also featured. The context underscores U.S. industrial evolution at a major national landmark.
