Classic and vintage cars go under the hammer for nearly £400,000 this month
Classic and vintage cars go under the hammer for nearly £400,000 this month as Charterhouse’s sale at the Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset drew significant international bidding. On Thursday, June 4, 60 vehicles sold for a combined total of nearly £400,000. Two Lagonda cars fetched £46,700 together: a 1929 tourer sold for £34,500 to a collector in Ireland, and a 1932 saloon went for £12,200 to a buyer in Kent. Auction figures also included a 1969 Jaguar E-type roadster purchased by a bidder from Australia for £45,000, showing reach beyond the UK. Notable results continued with a 1978 Lotus Esprit sold to a Belgian collector for £19,000, and a 2009 Ford Focus RS, the newest model on offer, selling for £28,000. Charterhouse, based at The Long Street Salerooms in Sherborne, provides classic and vintage car valuations.
