Denny Hamlin Tells Dale Jr. 'That's Not Sport' in Their Split Over Carson Hocevar

Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. argued about what should happen after Carson Hocevar’s brake-check of Austin Cindric at Martinsville. On Hamlin’s “Actions Detrimental,” the two agreed Hocevar hit the brakes in front of Cindric on purpose Sunday, but they diverged on the next step. Earnhardt, a co-owner of JR Motorsports, said the punishment should be handled differently, arguing that if NASCAR does nothing, the behavior could continue until someone “decides to make it stop.” Hamlin pushed back, calling it “not sport” and stressing that the sport needs integrity and “guardrails,” even if that limits entertainment. Hamlin also referenced being docked points and fined in 2023 for a wreck involving Ross Chastain.
