Driver accused of deadly chain-reaction crash that sent car into local Domino's issues plea

Alexander Hernandez, 35, pleaded guilty Friday to one count each of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, and operating a vehicle while under the influence, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court records. The plea stems from a Sept. 26, 2025 crash that police said involved a chain reaction of impacts. Court records indicate Hernandez, driving a black Dodge Ram at high speed northbound on S. Smithville Road shortly after midnight, ran a red light and struck a white Toyota Camry at Third Street. The vehicles then hit parked cars and were pushed into the Domino’s parking lot and, ultimately, into the Domino’s walk-in cooler/freezer. Camry driver James Moody, 43, died from injuries at the scene. Hernandez is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 23.
