DTM Norisring: Thiim takes second victory and DTM championship lead
At DTM Norisring in Nuremberg, Nicki Thiim secured a second victory and moved to the lead in the championship. After winning Saturday’s race for Aston Martin, the Danish driver started Sunday from pole position and controlled the race to take another win. Thiim defended against HRT Ford’s 20-year-old Finn Wiebelhaus multiple times, but no one managed to pass. Lucas Auer (Landgraf-Mercedes) finished third, while Maro Engel, driving for the AMG sister team Arjun Maini at HRT-Ford, crossed fourth. Maro Engel ended up seventh after starting 12th and said a pit-stop mishap left him waiting to let Tom Kalender through. Rain-related chaos brought out the safety car after rear-end collisions scattered debris, affecting several cars including Engel and Matteo Cairoli.
