E-bike rider dies after collision with car in Fremont

An e-bike rider died after colliding with a car in Fremont, police reported. The crash occurred Saturday at 4:34 p.m. near Grimmer Boulevard on Auto Mall Parkway, according to a Fremont Police Department release. The vehicle was traveling west on Auto Mall Parkway in the right-turn lane for the northbound I-880 ramp, while the cyclist was traveling east in the westbound bicycle lane on an electric bicycle at the time of the collision. The rider suffered head injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he died. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. Authorities said no identities have been released and noted the incident as Fremont’s sixth fatal traffic collision of 2026. The Fremont Police Department Traffic Unit asked for anyone with information to contact them.
