Expand Electrified Vehicle Assembly Strategy In Brazil
General Motors announced it will expand its electrified vehicle assembly strategy in Brazil alongside the official production start of the new Chevrolet Captiva EV. GM’s South American subsidiary said it will broaden its electrified manufacturing project in partnership with Comexport, operator of the Planta Automotiva do Ceará (PACE) plant where the Chevrolet Spark EUV and Captiva EV are already assembled. GM added that it is entering a new phase of local growth by bringing a new model to the country this year, without naming it. The company plans to add a third electrified vehicle to the PACE assembly project by the end of this year, with a new production line at the complex, with a vehicle described as equipped with “unprecedented technology” for Chevrolet in Brazil. The additional electrified model is expected to expand the range of efficient powertrains and raise capacity, aiming for up to 50,000 units assembled annually, with potential to double in a future phase.
