FBI agent struck pedestrian with government car then lied about NYC hit-and-run, prosecutors say

Federal prosecutors say an FBI agent, Andrew Reyes, drove a government car the wrong way down a busy Brooklyn avenue, ran a red light and struck a pedestrian before speeding away on Feb. 3. Prosecutors allege the 30-year-old Brooklyn resident later lied to investigators about the hit-and-run, with the claims laid out in an indictment unsealed in U.S. District Court. Reyes was arrested Thursday morning and faces charges including willfully depriving someone of constitutional rights while acting under color of law, plus false-statement counts. His attorney, Federal Public Defender Nora Hirozawa, said Reyes would plead not guilty. The victim was not identified, and his condition was not disclosed.
