Fifa's sales pitch revealed: more tournaments, more debt ... but no mention of women's game
FIFA’s internal sales materials for selling the World Cup’s commercial rights outline a growth plan built on more tournaments, higher ticket prices and debt financing—without directly addressing the women’s game. A 25-page deck titled “Fifa Forward Enterprise Member Materials,” reviewed by The Guardian, proposes creating a new company to run FIFA’s commercial operations and selling 20% of it to U.S. investor Joshua Kushner, whose family ties include Jared Kushner. Produced with JP Morgan, the document points to a potential $20m sign-up payment for each of FIFA’s 211 member associations and projects World Cup-related payments rising to $24m per member in the 2035–39 cycle. The plan also references expanding global tournaments from 200 to 450 each year and selling media rights to subscription or streaming platforms.
