First look: Fiat revives 1950s Multipla for retro four-seat microcar
xCruzo Brief
Fiat is preparing to revive the spirit of the 1950s Multipla with a new tiny four-seat EV called the Multiplina. Revealed as the Multiplina Concept during a micromobility event at Vatican City, the 2028 production version is positioned above Fiat’s two-seat Topolino and below the current Fiat 500 and a separate affordable electric city car planned later this year. The concept returns to a retro “people mover” theme, taking its name from the 600 Multipla of 1956 and referencing the 500’s footprint. At just under three metres long, it should exceed Topolino’s speed limit: 55 mph maximum under L7 quadricycle rules, versus 28 mph for the Topolino’s 5.4kWh battery and ~46 miles claimed range.
