Flat-Eight Porsche Hypercar Is Looking Increasingly Likely: TDS

Porsche is reportedly edging closer to a new hypercar codenamed “S1,” powered by a flat-eight engine, according to a report cited by TDS/Handelsblatt. Porsche has never used a flat-eight in a production car, making the concept a notable departure. The company previously floated the idea earlier in the decade, linked to a Cayman-based project that was later scrapped. The “S1” name also appeared in past reporting from before the Carrera GT launch, when a V8 halo model was expected. In parallel, Stellantis is recalling nearly 100,000 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs (2022–2026) for unsecured roof-rack crossbars.
