xCruzo Brief

Ford is recalling tens of thousands of F-150 and F-250 pickups due to a software issue that can block the rear camera display. The problem relates to a “Views” menu: if that menu remains open when the driver engages Reverse, the overlay may not dismiss. As a result, the camera image can stay hidden until the driver manually closes the menu or shifts the truck into Drive and moves forward. Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the camera image would violate a federal regulation and could increase the likelihood of a crash. The recall covers fewer than 25,000 units per model: 24,408 F-150s (2021–2023) and 23,179 F-250s (2023–2026), based on specified production date ranges. Dealers have been notified, and Ford plans an owner letter later this month, with remedy letters in September via an over-the-air update.
