Ford recalls 741,000 F-150s, Explorers, and other SUVs for major transmission flaw
Ford and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have announced a recall covering 741,195 trucks and SUVs in the United States due to a rollaway risk. The issue involves a software glitch in certain vehicles equipped with park-by-wire functionality and 10-speed automatic transmissions. In affected models, the transmission may lose the ability to remain in Park, potentially allowing the vehicle to move unexpectedly if the parking brake is not set. The recall includes 2018–2021 Ford Expedition, 2018–2021 Lincoln Navigator, 2020–2021 Ford Explorer, 2020–2021 Lincoln Aviator, and 2021 Ford F-150. Ford notes instrument cluster warnings may appear for owners experiencing the fault. The action follows a broader wave of major recalls in June 2026 by manufacturers including Jeep, Honda, and Toyota.
