Ford is recalling more than 40,000 trucks and SUVs due to a headlight defect that could reduce driver visibility, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The notice covers about 41,748 vehicles, including 2025–2027 Ford Expedition and 2026 models of the F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD and F-550 SD. NHTSA says the exterior lighting problem could cut visibility for the driver or make the vehicle harder for others to see, increasing crash risk. The agency attributes the issue to headlight assemblies that may contain a contaminated LED chip, potentially causing a loss of daytime running lights, parking lights, high beams or low beams. A dashboard indicator light is expected to illuminate when low and/or high beam headlamps are inoperative. Dealers will inspect and replace headlight assemblies if needed at no cost, with owner notification letters expected to be mailed Oct. 26.
